Green InitiativesSustainable energy and low energy use options are utilized by General Sign in all of our lit signage packages.
Firstly, all new signage, unless asked for, is manufactured with L.E.D. modules and power supplies. L.E.D. is a low impact lighting source that usually runs on 120 volts, as opposed to neon which runs on 277. Additionally, L.E.D. products are less impactful on the environment as there are far less use of hazardous gasses and chemicals like in the production of neon and fluorescent lighting.
General Sign was founded in 1972 in Jacksonville, FL. The company soon rose to prominence in the area offering high quality signage to the Northeast Florida area. Over the years the company grew from a local sign shop to having a regional presence. Ownership changed hands a few times during this period but the quality of the product remained the same.
In 1999, Randall Ginzig, saw an opportunity to take General Sign to the next level. He had experience as a C-level executive and as a General Contractor, taking another Jacksonville based company from obscurity to the international level before moving on to a new venture. Locally, he solidified long standing relationships with General Sign, and grew new ones. In 2001, Beach Neon and Sign was acquired by General Sign. Beach Neon was a well known manufacturer of high quality channel letters. This acquisition was critical in growing the capabilities of General Sign.
Throughout the mid to late 2000s, the company has continued to grow providing its clients turn key signage from coast to coast. Contact us today to see if we can meet your Corporate Identity needs.
